When you are certain that a divorce is impending, or you are in the beginning stages of a divorce, there’s no denying it’s a major life change. There are many emotions that come into play as the process unfolds. There is the fear of the unknown, heartbreak, and worry about all the ways in which your life is going to change. Your day to day routine and normalcy will be upended for an extended period of time until you can create your new normal.

During a divorce, your attorney’s job is to represent you in court to the best of their ability. And while an attorney may be empathetic to your emotions, they will likely not have the time or the ability to focus on any of your needs outside the legal realm. Beyond that, your friends and family, while well-meaning, may not be the best sources of advice or insight into your situation and how divorces really work well.

Q.

What are the benefits of divorce coaching?

A.

When you retain divorce coaching services, you are receiving the emotional support you will need during the actual divorce process. You can let your attorney handle the legal side while leaning on us for emotional support and guidance during this major life event.

We provide you with a hybrid of encouragement that lifts you up and objective advice that can keep you grounded. Those are the hallmarks of an effective coach, and that’s what we offer. In addition to that, we help coach you forward in life.

For example, if you haven’t worked for awhile because you’ve been a stay at home parent, we can help you spruce up your resume, or plan for your new financial situation. We can help you ensure that important documents are in order and make decisions about dating post-divorce. Most importantly, we are here to support and encourage you in the way that your unique situation calls for.

Q.

How is divorce coaching different from hiring a lawyer?

A.

Q.

Is divorce coaching worth the cost?

A.

If you rely on your attorney for any issues that are unrelated to your legal representation, you are still being billed per email or per 15 minutes on the phone. With Sharp Divorce Coaching, we help you avoid being billed for every email back and forth to an attorney. We are here to help you understand the divorce process and to provide support while you work to gain clarity and navigate your divorce without the costly back-and-forth of attorney fees.
