Q.

Should I invite my partner to Pre-Divorce Exploration?

A.

This is a personal choice. Sometimes partners both know that divorce is imminent and want to work together to make choices that will reduce legal fees and help them get to their new lives post-divorce more quickly.

However, if your spouse isn’t aware of your plans for divorce, it may be better to attend the coaching session solo in order to discuss the best approach based on your unique situation.

Q.

Is Pre-Divorce Exploration like therapy?

A.

While Pre-Divorce Exploration can be emotionally relieving and provide mental and emotional support, it is not meant to replace any type of counseling from a licensed professional. We are here to help you prepare for and get focused for the path ahead and to provide a listening ear. Many times, people who are entering into a divorce have a difficult time finding the energy beyond their heartbreak to focus on the important administrative and logistical tasks that are necessary to move forward; we are here to be that crutch and navigator on your journey.

Q.

Can you provide me with legal representation, as well?

A.

Because of a conflict of interests, Lindsey, or any other members of our team, cannot provide both divorce coaching and legal representation services.

Q.

What does Pre-Divorce Exploration cost?

A.

Pre-Divorce Exploration is one flat rate and is designed to help get you to the starting gate of your divorce feeling confident that you understand what to expect and how to proceed. From there, we recommend diving into the next step in the divorce journey with us by leveraging our Divorce Coaching & Support service.

It’s also important to remember the cost savings that Pre-Divorce Exploration can deliver. Instead of being billed for every email back and forth to an attorney trying to understand the filing and pre-divorce process, Sharp Divorce Coaching can help you gain clarity and prepare for your divorce without the costly back-and-forth.

Q.

What should I bring with me to Pre-Divorce Exploration sessions?

A.

We will use our time together to discuss everything about your life that will be impacted by a divorce. You will want to have basic financial information, as well as facts about your housing situation, career, family and a list of reasons why you’re looking to proceed with a divorce, as well as some potential challenges you may face with your soon-to-be ex.
